Maren Laurence has returned to the United States after earning her Master’s Degree with high merit from The Royal Academy of Music in Harp Performance in London studying under Karen Vaughn of the London Symphony Orchestra. She received her Bachelor's Degree with honors from the University of Michigan studying under Joan Holland, including a half year of study at the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands studying under Erika Waardenburg.
With 20 years of experience, she has toured internationally including performances in the UK, Italy, Ireland, and the Netherlands, and extensively across the US. Maren frequently performs as a soloist, in ensembles and in orchestras. She has most recently performed solo recitals in London, UK. Maren is also an active orchestral harpist. In addition to winning first place in the international solo and orchestral competition at the Salvi Summer Harp Institute and Competition, she has performed with numerous orchestras including University of London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Academy of Music Academy Symphony Orchestra, University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra, and University of Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra.
Maren has received various awards and accolades throughout her career. Maren was a recipient of the Musical Merit Scholarship for four consecutive years at the University of Michigan 2010-2014. She won first place in the international solo and orchestral competition at the Salvi Summer Harp Institute and Competition in Anaheim, California, 2009. She has performed at the American Harp Society’s National Conference as a member of the Premier Performances and was chosen as a member of the US National Harp Ensemble representing the Suzuki harpists in the US and performed at the World Harp Congress in Dublin, Ireland.
Maren is involved with several service groups and does volunteer work with her harp. She is the former president of Sigma Alpha Iota, a musical organization dedicated to musical outreach and service in the community.
